would you get a Maths tutor for your home-ed child?

Hello,
I am thinking of doing some Maths tutoring (I am a qualified secondary Maths teacher, but I know the primary curriculum because I have two children (aged 6 and 8)). At the moment I am not working as a teacher in a school, so I am thinking about giving private tuition . However, the tutoring hours are usually afternoon/evening or during the weekend. I was wondering if parents of home-ed children use any Maths tutors, or if they don't need any help as they teach their children themselves. I would be very grateful if anybody could tell me if they think there is a need for a private tutor during the day (during normal school hours).
Thank you!

Hi

Based on my local experience, you would most likely get asked to tutor a group so the parents could split the cost. Home ed parents don't have much spare cash!

Thanks for the reply, FionaJNicholson.
Tutoring a small group would be fun! I didn't think about this. Do you know of any home-ed websites that could be useful to me, in terms of finding out where I could advertise my tutoring service, who I should talk to, etc?
Thank you!

It depends where you are based, really. I must admit I don't see this as a money-spinner because you'd have to factor in travel time and costs. Unless you're thinking they would come to you?

I guess you are right: it won't make a lot of money, but I like the idea of keeping busy during the day. But I don't know how high the demand is (I live in Scotland).

We had a lovely tutor for a while for ds2. She came along after work in the afternoon when it suited her and it was a good time for us. She could have charged more as we were so grateful to find someone ds2 liked/wasn't scared of.
