Juat watched this clip here of a head teacher who has implemented a flexischool arrangement for all her students. She has a very small school, but I think the clip is very interesting. She seems to have a lot of HE children in her catchment area.Smile

Oh I have met her, and saw her presnetation and asked quite a few questions.
I was most impressed! (from school sceptic me that is praise indeed!)
The are some HE children in her catchment, but quite a few of the HE children attending, travel quite long distances to get there

They have children in schol full time, some flexi schooled children, some children who consider themselves home ed who attend a couple of days in the week, to do certain subjects and they were looking at providing what I would call a 'resource centre' for children and families to use as and when required. They were fully prepared to work with autonomously home educated children.

If our children were younger and we lived within an hour or so of the school I'd have tried it to see if the children liked it! Shock

I thought it sounded ideal for many families!

I'd love to have met her. I think it would be fantastic if more schools could be free to adopt similar strategies. I'm sure that there are many children and parents who would benefit from simply being able attend school on a less rigid and more flexible basis and schedule. I was amazed that she said that schools should be able to move with the times more. I only wish it was in my area.

She sounds wonderful, very open minded and embracing of HE.

Wow- we hvve just put in the application for the local full time school (not even a pta :( ) but would LOVE to send the kids part time to a school like that. Would seriously love a school like that- there should be more!
