I was home educated myself for my secondary school years and know that EO were really helpful in giving advice and support. I was a member last year and so I decided to rejoin this year. I signed up again online but have heard nothing since. I have tried emailing them but have heard nothing back. I've also tried calling the
main number but it doesn't even ring. I was just wondering if the EO have gone under but haven't told anyone yet. They're accepting payments online but yet seem uncontactable. Does anyone know how to get in touch with them or have had the same experience?

I home edded my children last year, and joined as a member, although didnt really find them very useful. Sorry, this doesnt help you really but didnt want to read and run!

I read on mailing list that there was a lot of disagreement in the management committee a few months ago. I guess if that is still ongoing then maybe no-one is keeping an eye on things properly. The website probably is still functioning as written - but the human bassed follow up may not be.

Can you cancel your payment through your credit card ?

I considered joining but thought I would wait to see how things panned out.

I think you might have a wrong number. they are on 08445867544

julienoshoes · 02/09/2010 11:21

Hello Grumblestiltskin
EO has definately not gone under. I am a member of it's Disability Group and am working literally right now (waiting for a return call) to support a couple of member families.

What has happened I believe is that the lady handling all of the new enquiries/subscriptions has left and EO is undergoing a process of transferring all the details, files, and a variety of stuff to a different office.
When I say EO, i mean a couple of the Trustees who are home educating parents with other responsibilities as well, are doing the physical transferring.

I'll go ask for the new telephone number for you to call-and this time I'll make an attenpt to record it for the future!

julienoshoes · 02/09/2010 11:52

have checked and now called the number on the website-and it works.
084554786345

but if there is any other enquiry i can help you with Grumblestiltskin, ask away

Grumblestiltskin · 02/09/2010 13:32

Will try the number again and see if I can get through. Will let you know what happens. Just annoyed that no matter what Eo are going through they should not be taking money from people if they do not intend/ cannot manage to get back to people. Thank you everyone for your help though.

MrsvWoolf - if you prefer a paper version, you can request that you receive it that way rather than by email. EO member info

Also contact no is 0845 478 6345. Seems to be an extra 5 in Julienoshoes post (although maybe that's the one that worksSmile)

EO contact details

LOL!
You are most probably right juuule
copying numbers is one of the ways my own dyslexia shows.

Crumpton · 08/09/2010 18:24

I paid for membership last week. A message came up from EO saying that they were having problems and the money would be refunded.
The money hasn't been refunded and nobody is replying to my emails.
Is it true that they've wound up?

Crumpton · 09/09/2010 10:32

?

juuule · 09/09/2010 12:56

Have you tried phoning them, Crumpton?

or contact someone through EO on Yahoo groups

Crumpton · 09/09/2010 13:33

No, not yet. I emailed the general enquiries and administration sections and nobody has replied.

Did you get through on the phone number, Grumblestiltkin?

julienoshoes · 09/09/2010 13:49

Definately and absolutely NOT wound up Crumpton.
The organisational base has literally been moved by a couple of volunteer members-that may be the cause of some of the difficulties.

I am a member of their Disability Group and talked to others just this morning, so I know it is not folding/folded.

Try the phone number given to Grumble and if you have no joy come back here and tell me and I'll do my best to sort it for you.

mumof4darlings · 11/09/2010 12:08

I'll find out for you-although it may be Monday, when the new office is open, before I can ask.

mumof4darlings · 15/09/2010 21:20

@julienoshoes
hi,any update on the membership cards, still nothing in the post?

julienoshoes · 24/09/2010 10:11

sorry I have had trouble with the internet for some days.
Looks like it is sorted again now.

I understand from the new workers in the office, that they think they have now dealt with the backlog of work from the handover period.
But if anyone is still having problems email me on [email protected] and I can find out information specifically for you.

mumof4darlings · 24/09/2010 18:22

My card arrived today, i sent a email to the office and got a reply and apology next day, so we are all ready for an outings now!
