Good quality fitted sheets that Last

I’m fed up of buying fitted sheets that wear thin and develop holes within a year!

I originally blamed dh (standard procedure) but now it’s started happening to my 10-year-old’s sheets too, so I’m beginning to think it might not be a him problem!

At this point, it doesn’t even have to be cotton. I will genuinely consider Kevlar if it means getting a fitted sheet that lasts longer than 18 months.

I’m happy to spend more for quality, but I’m sick of constantly replacing sheets!
If you’ve found a brand that genuinely lasts, please tell me your secrets!

Equally, if you think this could be a washing issue rather than the sheets themselves, I’m open to advice on that too. For reference, I currently wash them at 30°C on a cotton cycle, using non-bio detergent and a 1,000rpm spin, then air-dry them.

Am I missing something obvious, or are fitted sheets just not made to last anymore? Please share your recommendations (and brands to avoid)!

Dorma

I suffered a similar problem with John Lewis cotton fitted sheets. I’ve since bought from Dunelm and they’re cheaper, thicker, with stronger elastic and just feel better quality. I’ve only had them a few months so can’t be sure, but I’m hopeful.

I buy Marks and Spencer 230 thread count cotton deep fitted sheets and have had them for approx 3 - 4 years. I wash the colour ones on a 40 degree cotton wash and white ones on a 60 degree cotton wash. The other brand I like is The White Company. A bit pricey but have got a couple of flat sheets that I wash on a 60 degree cotton wash and are 7 years old

I use these and they are brilliant.

I buy these from m&s too and they last for many years at 60 degrees.

I buy the deep ones.

I love Linen bundle sheets.

Soontobe60 · 21/10/2026 23:07

I’ve honestly never had sheets that wear out! I tend to buy supermarket sheets, but also have had 100% cotton sheets from Dunelm (their own brand) and sheets from IKEA that have both worn very well.
I wash them on the hottest setting using bio powder and some of that anti bacterial rinse, line dry in summer, tumble dry in winter.

HorseandHeron · 21/10/2026 23:07

DS got me onto IKEA bedding. Very thick durable cotton and really reasonable in comparison with similar quality elsewhere.

£80 for a fitted sheet!!!!! I’d expect a full set of king size bedding for that money!

PurpleLovecats · 21/10/2026 23:08

I buy all my bedding from La Redoute. It’s always lasted well.

shellyleppard · 21/10/2026 23:09

I brought some from IKEA years ago. They are always washed at 60 degrees and air dryed. Still going strong now

Wreckinball · 21/10/2026 23:11
