DH has decided we need to replay some old furniture and has been looking online for inspiration. Today he announced that he has ordered a dining set, sideboard, coffee table, tv unit and some shelves from Next Directory because he likes that they all match as this will make it easier. Everything is in dark bronx and I've never seen any in real life and neither has he. Everything matching is not my cup of tea and I need to know if it's going to look truly awful or if i can make it work with some clever accessories. Does anyone have these in their home, do they look nice and is there anything I can do to make it look better?

I can’t get over that your husband unilaterally decided what kind of furniture you would have in your shared house, and bought it. Why do you now have to make it work?

Well, its not awful. But it's odd that you didn't have a say.

I like this range from next, I’ve looked at a few pieces in store and it seems well made and I like things to match BUT it’s an expensive order and I’d be annoyed I hadn’t been consulted before it had been ordered.
is it a style you like?
why didn’t he consult you before ordering?

I'd said I liked the dining table as the size fits the space and thought we should go to a showroom. He likes neat, orderly, matching and I'm more into eclectic and second hand. He's trying to be helpful because he doesn't really care that much it just needs to look nice and be functional. I'm terrible at budgeting, choosing and a terrible procrastinator so I think he genuinely just thought I'll get the lot and that will be it. He will be happy it's done and I'll be in what if land. Never liked houses that look like they could be in a catalogue and someone bought the room so need to work out how to make it look more interesting.

And anyone who's got the dining table or coffee table, do they scratch easily?

We had some of this range in our our flat. I really like it and it lasts well.

We’ve got quite a bit of this range, including the dining table and it hasn’t scratched.
because of the colour it’s not exactly matchy matchy and I’m like you have a more relaxed taste. We’ve had it a few years and still like it.

Oh that's good to hear @mynameiscalypso @ranoutofquinoaandprosecco
