Kitchen cabinet colour - moving from Hague Blue

I’ve had Hague Blue cabinets for 6 years and getting a respray in a couple of weeks. Bored of blue and so it’s a toss up between Farrow and Ball sage and Skimming stone. I’ve added an AI mockup of my actual cabinets in Skimming Stone. Does anyone have this colour in a Matt finish and if not, any recommendations for colours which have worked out well?

Oak worktops which will also be changed in time to white quartz, but not yet and probably not in the life of this respray.

Can I see it in the Hague Blue to get an idea of how the space looks in a stronger colour?

I think it is just hitting a note that is not matching the tiles but not enough of a contrast maybe?

Have you considered the orientation of the room? Whether you get north or south light changes the colours quite a bit. If a north one bear in mind skimming stone may look much lighter and bluish so you may want to go a bit darker for it to show up.

My advice is to invest in a farrow and ball colour wheel and check the colour you want against the different surfaces you want to paint.

There's too many beigey ivory shades going on here which clash for example the hexagon wall tiles are cooler toned than the skimming stone which in turn is too similar yet not not quite matching the floor tiles.

I'd go with Sage which will contrast the tiles nicely or another colour that isn't a neutral.

First you need to be aware that whatever you spray will not actually be a colour match with F&B, it will be quite different.

Secondly thé AI beige colour is nothing like Skimming Stone which is mid to light grey.

Really interested in the re spray, I’ve the same solid oak cupboard but they look dated is a repsray long lasting.

Here it is in the blue it currently is. Thanks for comments so far - I think you might be right that Skimming Stone isn’t quite the right mushroom/greige.

Anyone I’ve asked in real life has gone sage green, but it’s not my fave.

I just checked and it’s an east facing room. Morning sun.
And as for respray, any company can do from any colour to another. I use a local company, it takes a day. Original kitchen was cream gloss.

its much more subtle than the skimming stone in your photo. Much. We have grey floor tiles and lots of oak. It’s all quite subtle

Well the Hague Blue looks gorgeous but I understand getting bored.

What about a different green to sage eg a dark forest type green or maybe an aubergine colour.

Will they spray a sample for you? I liked Hague Blue but once sprayed onto a sample and held up in the kitchen it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I went for Stiffkey blue which would be too similar for you.

For those interested we had the cupboards respirated, worktops wrapped, new handles and an additional unit added one it was like a different kitchen.

I was going to suggest a bottle green as well It looks brilliant with natural wood finish and copper.

If you stay with a neutral, I'd go something more definite and cold, like a parma grey or similar. I just think beige undertones are too similar-but-not-quite with the wood and tile tones.

I think am going to have to change worktops now in order to be able to get away from the strong cabinet look and back to neutral. I think with a white worktop more like the tiles any other colour would work.

I didn’t pick any of this, previous owner taste. I don’t really like any of it but can’t afford whole new kitchen…

I'd actually just change the tiles OP.

I hate the worktops, not my thing 😂 so was looking for an excuse to get something I feel is cleaner and not wood - but yes tiles are an easy enough fix.

I’ve had them both as a pair for years - I like them but I’m not welded to them. It’s a very neutral space

I love the worktops, would change the tiles and opt for sage green.

This would probably be my choice short of a total change op. Is it worth trying a picture?

Sorry for the thread hijack. I'm in the process of buying a property. The kitchen seems solid, nice handles and good layout and workspace, but I dont like the colour, it's gloss and quite dark.

I saw a company on instagram tonight who respray but they're NW based and I'm SE. Amoyone know a SE based kitchen spray company that they would recommend?

How are tiles changed? Are they taken off or tiled over? It’s something I need to do.

I’ve got a mock up in sage green, it’s ok. Interesting how everyone hates the tiles and I hate the cabinet colours and worktops :) it’s not a forever kitchen or a forever home, the blue is tatty now and needs a respray so am just looking to make it liveable for 3-5 years. If it were a full refurb I’d take out the oak worktops, stupid Belfast sink and hexagon tiles but I can’t afford all that so was looking to get a bit more towards my taste with this respray, which is cheap and quick.

I get what people are saying though about being tied to tiles, floor and wood. I think for now I’ll just get it redone in a blue similar to this and change everything all at once later. Disappointing to spend money on something you don’t like at all (blue cupboards) but I don’t want to spend more thousands on tiles etc at this time. Thanks all.

You just need a tiler to remove and retile - need to book well in advance for small jobs like this though as they’re on £300 plus a day near me and very in demand!!
