For a 55 by 80 inch window (140 cm width by 203 cm length),

you'll need a pair where each single curtain measures at least

168 cm in width and 213 cm to 229 cm in length (drop), depending on how high you hang your curtain rod.

When buying standard, ready-made curtains, look for the size pack labelled;
168 cm x 229 cm (66" x 90") or
228 cm x 229 cm (90" x 90") if you prefer extra fullness.

e.g from Dunelm
Our ready-made curtain widths measure 117, 168 and 228 cms
and lengths come in 137, 182 and 228 cms.

For the drop, decide whether you want them to come to just below the sill or to the floor.
The width of the curtain should be 1.5 to 2 times the width of the window to allow for fullness, pleats etc.
For ready made curtains you'd need to find something near as possible even if slightly larger and alter the length if necessary. Nothing worse than skimpy looking curtains.

Are you talking about inches or centimetres?
curtains come in standard width sizes, and for a pencil pleat you are supposed to get 2 x width or thereabouts, but for an eyelet you can get away with a narrower width.
assuming you have quoted inches I would try 46 wide but you would probably need to get 90 drop
