Do you think IKEA sofas are any good?

I’m just trying to replace our trashed sofas - dogs, cats, kids etc.

I really like the look of IKEA sofas, especially the Valnäs, but I don’t want them to look rubbish too quickly.

I get these are not at all expensive really but I am in a budget and can’t keep replacing sofas.

Any views on IKEA sofas?

We’ve had Vimle for 5 years , we have washed the covers a couple of times and they are still in great shape despite both me and DH being far from petite

We’ve got the 3-seater sofa bed Vimle and absolutely love it. My parents stay with us abroad 3 months per year and it’s really comfortable to sleep on. I slept on it downstairs during the heatwave and had a great sleep. Removable covers are easy to wash, and I love the gunmetal grey colour we chose.

My only complaint is that the arm rests are hard, so if you want to lay on it sideways, you always need a few cushions to stop the wood from digging into your back.

We are moving back to our home country next month, and I will probably buy another Vimle for our new house once we purchase a property.

We spent a whole weekend trawling all the usual sofa shops testing comfort and the Ikea ones were by far the best. They’re still going strong 5 years later but even if they hadn’t been, we could’ve afforded to replace them three times over compared to DFS, Sofology, Next etc. I definitely recommend Ikea 👍🏼.

Had my ikea sofa bed for 8 years. It was used primarily as a bed the first year and a half we had it. We have taken it apart to wash covers and re arrange etc and is still holding up. Not to mention we’ve actually moved twice too so it’s withheld that too.

I really want to like IKEA sofas. A cat has trashed ours and I'm reluctant to spend a lot in case another one gets ruined. However, every one I've sat in either has a too low back and/or the seat depth is too shallow so I don't feel my legs are properly supported. It's so annoying because I like the look of quite a few of them. So I wouldn't risk it unless you know the dimensions of a comfortable sofa and can compare those with an IKEA one.

We bought the viskafors tan leather 2 years ago I think. Needed leather because of the dogs. Didn't get to try it in store unfortunately as wasn't available but wish we had. It's not deep enough and very difficult to get comfortable on. Bought a long bolster cushion to try and improve it. it but doesn't really help. Can't wait to replace it.

We’ve had a few Ektorps over the years and they have all been cheap, comfortable and indestructible. Loved being able to chuck the covers in the wash.

We have two Ektorp sofas in our living room, had them for nearly 7 years. They’re pretty comfortable and the covers are easy to remove and clean. We’re thinking of changing a few things in our living room and we probably can’t keep the sofas if we do but I’d certainly look at Ikea sofas again.
