Second sofa- try to match or go completely different??

Soooooo, I have a three seater black leather recliner sofa right now, and my ex took the matching two seater when he moved out. I need to get a two seater to go in it's place but I won't be able to match it exactly..should I get something vaguely similar or go for something bold and unmatching?

I considered getting matching throws for the two sofas, but it won't really work due to the recliner action...

Any advice is very much appreciated!

I can't afford a brand new set right now, sadly

Different. When we moved to this house we chucked DPs brown leather sofa in with my teal velvet sofa and chair and it worked out thankfully 😅 they are similar styles and we changed all the legs to match.

Thank you!! I was leaning towards that too. Furniture charity shop, here I come!

Different.

'Try to match' can lead to 'near miss' and that doesn't look good.

Different. We've had loads of sofas over the years and haven't bought any that matched since about 2007.

Currently, in our tv room we have a contemporary turquoise velvet three seater with an antique Arts & Crafts two seater in dusky pink with applique roses. Sounds weird, but the cushions and Persian rug tie the whole lot together.
