Large patterned blue or green rug recommendations for a living room

I need a large rug for a large living room. Blues/greens and patterned. I can't find anything online? They're all too light coloured.
Any recommendations? TIA

Yes, Ruggable.

Thanks @Tortephant

Have you looked at Wayfair? I have this exact rug in the teal colourway, and I think it's amazingly good quality. 100% wool. They've got lots of good patterned rugs in large sizes.

@TemporarilyCantDoMyself I hadn't thought of there. That's beautiful.

Can you spot clean it @TemporarilyCantDoMyself ? We have gcs.

Oo, haven't had it long so haven't had to. I guess it depends a bit on what the spillage consists of. I'm sure it'll stand up to spot cleaning but not every spillage would come out, IYSWIM?
Here's another one. Green.

Ruggable as suggested are washable but they are very thin and quite expensive, so it's a choice really as to how important the cleaning aspect is. Personally I'd rather have a thicker rug but I do have gcs so I get it.
I try and confine jammy fingers to other spaces but can't always be done, can it?

La Redoute is my go to for large inexpensive rugs. You can filter by colour, there aren’t loads in greens and blues but there are some if you look through.

@CaringCucumber

Rugs Direct excellent, responsive company and will price match

Kukoon another company with very good customer service

The Range can some times be lowest re pricing, so double-check their site too

Thanks everyone very helpful.

Today I went to a charity shop for some curtains. Dh has said we'd leave all of ours at present house. I'm not leaving my bedroom ones I love them. It's a landlord who's bought our house so doubt they'll notice? So I've bought some that fit for 6.50. Whilst there they had a large rug. Not the colours I want but it'll do for now for £10.

I love La Redoute for all sorts of things but Op asked for a large rug, and they don’t stock large rugs. 🤔

Their rugs go up to 3 x 4m.

Try the saleroom ( auction house aggregator site). Quite often large wool rugs get auctioned off for not much.

If you buy a rug at auction make sure it’s treated for any moth infestation.

Ebay have some gorgeous kilim rugs.

We bought a big one on eBay last year. It's not new but antique, absolutely stunning and cost less than £500! EBay is always my first place to look for virtually everything - we've purchased many stunning rugs there over the years including a beautiful Oka one (from an animal charity) and several antique Persians from dealers and private sellers.

All I'd say is that searching for something like rugs there is a bit of a minefield and requires lots of patience!

CaringCucumber · 01/07/2026 13:38

Got a huge rug from Etsy.

Question now is would you put it in the corner? Dh says we should and put the TV unit on it? And of course sofas on or at the edge.

OP posts:
AllJoyAndNoFun · 01/07/2026 15:05

I find with rugs you need to sort of try a few arrangements and see what works. If it's really huge, then it might look best with the whole sofa on it, but at least the front feet of the sofa should be on it (say 1/3 depth of sofa) and there should be a bit of it out to each side of said sofa. I personally use the rug to anchor the seating/ coffee tables and stop it short of the TV unit. There is lots of advice online on how best to do it based on furntiure, room and rug size

AllJoyAndNoFun · 01/07/2026 15:05

Also, no, I'd never have a rug up to the wall- I'd always have a border of whatever is underneath

CaringCucumber · 01/07/2026 17:12

Yes I agree. It would look strange in the corner. Tv unit will be off the rug. Sofas on.
