Front Door Stained Glass: your experiences please

Hey front door people! I have a question about stained glass. We’re keen to get this design (I‘ve had quotes from a few thousand to few hundred for the design in the pic)

I was already considering buying the soldering kit myself…

I’ve also researched overlay and stickers. Any experience with that is welcome too!

If you had a stained glass made, how much did it cost and where did you get it done?

Any advice is so appreciated

We had stained glass panels made which were then encapsulated into a double glazed panel to go into a composite front door and a window. The door/ window installer knew the Stained glass guy and I went and met him and had a chat. He talked about the different colours and textures of glass and how much light would come through which was really interesting.
Apologies I can't remember how much it added to the cost of the door and window, because it was 15 years ago.
But any estimate would be specific to the amount of glass and the complexity of the work.
The design you've shown looks like it's small pieces with a fair bit of joints, so it's more work.
Few hundred sounds way too low.

Don’t do it yourself it will look awful it’s a real skill especially something so detailed as your image.

We had a very simple diamond pattern renovated - all glass out then replaced some diamonds with coloured panels before re-leading and installing.

Cost around £800 but was super simple compared to to yours. I’d imagine thousands is about right.

Our guy had a wonderful workshop where we went a looked and chose colours - he’d been in the trade since he was 16.

I got his details from the decorator / renovator I’d used for previous work.

This is fancy and will cost £1000+
You might get a simpler design, or something off the peg for cheaper.
Stickers will look as cheap as they sound. Don't waste your money.

I'm not sure if you are planning on buying new door or keeping your current front door and replacing the glass.

I haven't bought one yet, but plan to in the future, but these doors look beautiful and are very reasonably priced
