Playroom floor

Hi there, we are decorating our playroom/snug. We are a bit undecided on the flooring. We currently have oak floorboards which my husband would like to keep and just get a nice rug. I can’t help feel a carpet would be more cosy. (It’s a Victorian property with a fireplace in a large room in case that makes any difference).

I’d have hard floor and get a Totter and Tumble playmat to make it softer. Means everything is wipe clean. Also, if your children are into building, things sit so much nicer on a hard floor than carpet.
