Help with curtains - pencil pleat or pinch pleat in lounge

We have a bay window in our lounge with an old style plastic curtain track (currently has pencil pleat curtains). We can't change this to a pole as the track fits exactly inside the bay (no room for the pole to overhang).

I'm thinking pinch pleat curtains look a little more modern, neat than pencil pleat but does anyone know if these hang in the same way? At the moment the plastic track is hidden by the curtains if you see what I mean (i.e the top of the curtain is a little above the top of the track). Would this be the same with a pinch pleat?

Thanks so much - I've looked and looked online but can't seem to see an exact example.

When pinch pleats hang below a pole the fabric between the pleats goes back, when covering a track like yours this fabric has to come forward when the curtains are pulled back. Not wrong, just different

Thanks @BruceAndNosh have you used them on a track? Or is that just a google picture? I only ask because I can’t clearly see the track in the picture ( it almost looks like the window frame). I just don’t want to make an expensive mistake.

thank you.

The issue with hanging curtains on a track is that the hook needs to be placed about 3 inches below the top of the curtain and sometimes the top can tip forward a bit. You can normally see the track a bit. The photos I used are stolen from a website. I've just realised that the track is covered in matching fabric.

If you do use pinch pleats go for double pleats rather than triple (as in photos). Less bulky.

I think pinch pleats look more expensive but the way they hang makes all the difference. I’d use the pinch pleat curtain hooks to try one side of each and see which you prefer

Thank you both.

So glad I’ve found this thread as I’m looking for curtains for our bay window now. Have you ordered yours yet @Summerbay23? Smile
