Has anyone got experience of next sofas, specifically the Erin deep seat button back sofas?

They are lovely and comfortable to sit on in shop, but wondered what people's experience is after a while, still comfortable, hard wearing etc? Thanks 😁

I can only reply for us but we have not had a good experience with Next sofas. We looked for a couple of years to find two sofas to replace our M and S ones and finally tried some in Next that were comfortable. When they arrived the cushions were rock hard and needed to be plumped eveytime you sat on them. The chaise cushion was shaped and weighed nearly two stone. I hurt my back with plumping that one! Next tried sending out cushions with different inners but they didn't fit the frame properly and in the end they stopped replying to my emails. I had to pay myself to have the cushions restuffed privately with a different inner. The upholsterer said the original inners were cheap and unsuitable. I loved the colour and just didn't want the financial hit of selling immediately but the work cost 1200 altogether. The chaise sofa is also part sprung part webbed and consequently the chaise cushion dipped very quickly and again I had to have it rewebbed about a year in. Again the upholsterer said the original webbing was insufficient. Having said that the upholsterer reported that he spends all his time on doing repairs for people who have bought sofas that have been cheaply and poorly manufactured so I am not sure where else to suggest!

We have a Next sofa and the cushions had totally gone in about three years. Maybe we were unlucky but I wouldn’t recommend

We had one from Next in a tweedy fabric. Never again.
It was heavy. .it took 2 of us to move it for vacuuming beneath it.
The fabric started to bobble within weeks.
The zip went on one of the covers as it was so tight to get on/off.
It was a 3 seater, but to get 3 people on it comfortably one had to sit where the bottom cushions joined (why it was a 3 seater with 2 cushions I never understood ) , and we also had to remove the side cushions.
After about 4 years the frame broke right at the front middle. When we chopped it up to take to the tip we discovered that the frame was made of particle board and one of the interior struts had broken.

I've had two next Gosford sofas in velvet fabric for ten years and they have been brilliant. Still in great condition now.

Argh.... Bit of a mixed bag

Thanks for the replies so far, as you say @CandidOP it seems a lot of sofa manufacturers at this high street level are not always well made.

Probably need to do a bit more research 😁

We have two lots of sofas from next. One probably around 8-10 years old and one about 2. Not had any problems at all to be honest. Still very comfy and kept their shape. I also know from my friends they haven’t had any issues either. Sounds like we got lucky! Would buy again though :-)

I’ve got five next sofas, no complaints, the oldest ones are ten years old. Also Gosford (of different sorts, two buttoned), two are linen, two are velvet, one is pure wool. All without issues.
