Flooring for messy teenage girl

Does anyone have recommendations for flooring for an extremely careless and messy 14 year old...? 😫 her carpet desperately needs replaced as it's filthy and starting to smell despite being cleaned. A new one will end up covered in make up and spillages and then I will be annoyed at spending money. Wondered if anyone has found anything hard wearing that might survive. If carpet - better to go cheap and replace again sooner or else spend a bit more for stain/smell resistance?

Obvious answer is laminate floor with a washable rug I would have thought

What about those peel and stick floor boards? The look like wooden floors, go down flush to each other (so no gaps) and are a lot cheaper than actual wooden floors.
I'm not sure about price in England, but here in Ireland they are roughly the same as a cheap carpet. I've no experience with them myself although I am getting the tile version for my dining room. You just stick them down on the subfloor and job done, no need for a particular adhesive or anything.

Definitely easy to clean laminate and rug.

cheap carpet

Yeah, cheap carpet with a flecky sort of pattern but don’t replace until she leaves home.

Dr Beckman carpet cleaner is good for spillage cleaning.

Flotex carpet which is waterproof or cheap carpet and spray with Scotchguard

If she spills stuff it buy laminate flooring suitable for kitchens and bathrooms

My DD has white laminate that looks like a washed light wood, a bit beach hutty. When she was little she had a cute rainbow rug on it, then she switched it for something a bit more grown up and now we’ve recently bought another rug from IKEA. The floor is super easy to keep clean. Just hoover and any makeup marks come out with a wet wipe.

I don’t care if the rugs get wrecked as they’re easy to replace and she grows out of the styles anyway.

By being white, it makes the whole room look really light and goes with any decor.

Cheap carpet. Then have rules! Spills of makeup cause stains but wouldn’t make the carpet smell bad. Food / drink spills would tho, so I’d say no to those in the bedroom.

We had the same issue, foundation marks but the mistake we made is to go for a light colour carpet! No matter what carpet you get, accept the fact it will need to be cleaned.

We went for a polypropylene carpet which is meant to be easy to clean and you can use mild bleach products on it. We got samples first and ended up ordering from https://carpets-online.co.uk as we wanted something cheap enough and the shops were a bit on the pricier side for our teenage daughters room!

A darker colour carpet plus a rug on top in the problem areas?

Orangeandpinkcloud · Yesterday 22:24

Vinyl and a rug here.

Vinyl and a rug here.

This. Possibly without the rug. Until she learns to behave properly.

Or just say, don’t treat things like shit! Changing flooring because your NT child can’t follow basic rules about not ruining your stuff! When she’s at uni will you expect her landlord to replace carpets every term because she can’t stop ruining them?
