Is this too whimsical for an adult bedroom?

It would be going in a small alcove that has sage green shiplap panelling so it would just be the top half. The bed head and side tables sit in the alcove.

I love the colours and the fact that I can tie in yellows, greens, blues and pinks with it.

The disney is putting me off but I think it's subtle? Like upmarket disney hotel?

I've got a sample and it's lovely in real life.

It's the sugared almonds version in talking about.

I don't like it at all, the Bambi really puts me off.

BUT - it's your home and your room, do what you like.

Gingernaut · 18/04/2026 17:02

Who will be using the room?

Will you be giving guided tours?

If the people using the room are happy, who cares what anyone else thinks?

EarlofShrewsbury · 18/04/2026 17:05

My house was built around 1898, the walls are wonky and the rooms are small but it has high ceilings on both floors.

I love it. I like my decor to match the style of my house.

I think I'm going to use it. It gives me the vibes of old floral victorian paper with a twist of whimsy modern for my personality.

Thanks everyone.

My bedroom has a panda quilt, panda, panda related ornaments and a canvas of a panda in a pink jacket above the bed. If you love it have it.

tinyspiny · 18/04/2026 17:15

Love the flowers the Bambi bits not so good , and I love Disney . How about something like this https://www.worldofwallpaper.com/elsie-floral-wallpaper-cream-world-of-wallpaper-af0045.html

Epicuriouss · 18/04/2026 17:15

I definitely wouldn’t have it but then my house is all deep navy and black. So our tastes are just very different. If you love it why not?

If you can’t be whimsical in your own bedroom, where can you be whimsical?

This!

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 18/04/2026 17:18

I don’t think so, my mine and DHs room doesn’t actually look that different to our kids rooms. I love those coloured window sun catchers and stuff like that. Your room is your space and I think you should express yourself with your decor. If you can’t have the bedroom you want what can you have? It’s not like your hosting in there unless you’re swingers, and even if you are swingers shouldn’t be judgmental of decore.

Tiddlywinks63 · 18/04/2026 17:18

Go for it! 😍

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 18/04/2026 17:19

Not for me, but you go for it, OP! I hope you live many happy years in your little house with your cute wallpaper.

EarlofShrewsbury · 19/04/2026 13:10

They are some really lovely designs 😍

I love the hawthorn stripe and the hawthorn blossom ones..

Me, DP, my best friends who take the room when they stay and the annual boiler and electricity checking men 🤣

But you’ll be in there most of the time. Embrace your whimsy!!

Shallotsaresmallonions · 19/04/2026 13:13

I like the pattern without the Bambi! I'm sure there's something very similar without, if you're not sure about committing to the Disney element.

Selloonacup · 19/04/2026 13:16

Unless you're planning to sell your house imminently then have whatever you want.

I would suggest not inviting people to tell you they don't like it as it might put you off. Trust your judgment.

Im glad youre going for it!

I think in your cottage it will be perfect & you love it! I doubt when he gets a chance to be in there your DP won't give a flying what wallpaper you have & as for friends staying, they know & love you for who you are, so I'm sure they'll think it's fab for you (even
if they wouldn't choose it for themselves)

id love it if you updated the thread with some photos when it's done 👍🏻

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 19/04/2026 13:23

Love the flowers…not so much Bambi 🤷‍♀️

If it were ‘real’ woodland animals I might feel differently, but this is so obviously Bambi that I just couldn’t.

pinkpony88 · 19/04/2026 13:34

I think life is way too short to worry about what others think of your home decor. Your home is your sanctuary from the outside world and should be filled with things that fill you with joy ☺️

stormsurfer · 19/04/2026 13:51

H and M have some items in this pattern. They have cushions, storage boxes, blankets and duvet covers. Worth looking into those as a cheaper and less permanent way to add the whimsy than the wallpaper?

usedtobeaylis · 19/04/2026 14:59

If you love it do it! That's all that matters.

Davros · 19/04/2026 15:27

I like it but would go for one of the other colours. No point trying to tone it down through a bland background colour

Each to their own, but I like the colour OP chose the most

Lovelynames123 · 19/04/2026 20:53

Go for it, my living room is hot pink with walnut boarding with trailing plants all over it, and hot pink wisteria - it's my house so it's to my taste! My bedroom is painted metallic rose gold, it's my sanctuary as your bedroom should be yours, and reflect your tastes

For an adult room, whimsical is fine but not so much cartoon animals or Disney.... The flowers and butterflies are fine though. And I do love Sanderson wallpaper designs on the whole!

Agreed

Bambi is the issue for me

& @sixsept

It isn't Bambi what makes it whimsical, without Bambi it's just fairly ordinary wallpaper with butterflies?💁🏻‍♀️

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · 20/04/2026 12:56

The best thing about having an adult bedroom is you can have whatever you like. Our bedroom has fairies stencilled on the walls, ivy vines pinned to the ceiling and fairy lights trailing from the shelves. This is our place, we make the rules.
