I would like a new dining table for our kitchen/diner and the transformer table has caught my eye recently.
However the description of the materials makes me nervous "Crafted of engineered hardwood with oak veneers and solid wood slats."
I currently have a Made dining table and have had dreadful trouble with the wood veneer coming off. It's a state (and hasn't been mistreated - it has been protected with a table cloth for most of its life). I wish I had never brought the bloody thing!
We would only need to buy the table as already have a solid oak bench (made for me by a lovely relative), and Made chairs that are still fit for purpose.
I particularly like the round ends of the Transformer table (and the hidden cupboards). I think rounded ends will make the room seem more spacious. It will also work better with the bench we already have (getting in an out) than our current square table with legs at each corner.
But it is a lot of money and for that price I feel like it should all be solid wood not veneer. I don't generally have anything against veneer but the quality of our current table is so poor it has made me question if something like this is a good choice.
I was really hoping some Mumsnetters might have one of these and could advise their real experiences!
