It's an online shop but I drive to their showroom almost 2 hours away today to go and have a look... and it wasn't on display! 😩
I did see something else made in the same fabric and the other sofas seem really decent quality so I am considering still purchasing.
it's quite an unusual shape, so want a second opinion! I like to lay on a sofa so although the sides are high, it is long enough for me to lay on.
Will I regret this in a few years????

I love its shape. Think it looks really classy so I'd say go for it!

I've loved my sofa for over 25 years now. I've changed the cushion a couple of times to refresh it but it's been a great buy. It was quality so it's still going strong .

pinkpedi · 22/03/2026 18:07

I do like it. I was never happy with my current sofa. It's 9 years old absolutely nothing wrong with it but never loved the colour, it's grey and I chickened out of the pink one I really wanted. I don't want to make another mistake!

I would never buy a sofa if I hadn’t sat on it first.

I do like the look, though.

EmbroideredGardener · 22/03/2026 18:18

What are the measurements of the sofa? How do they compare with your current one and your height if you want to lie down on it? Ours arent long enough to lie down fully but we can snuggle down in the foetal position and we have a footstool so we can stretch put that way too.

If youve seen the fabric and other sofas then Id say its ok to buy from them. Were they comfy?

incognito1991 · 22/03/2026 18:22

Looks like what you find in the hospital corridors

pinkpedi · 22/03/2026 18:24

Yes it's plenty long enough for me to lay on, legs outstretched. And the proportions are good for my room. Yes the other sofas were really nice and comfy and looked great quality. I also loved some of their chaise ones but that shape unfortunately just doesn't work in my room.
I think I'm a bit nervous about the shape and colour (light brown) being too trendy and that I'd go off it in a couple of years.
i think Im overwhelmed as have looked at SO many!

It does t look at all comfy to sit, laze and lounge on.
Would you add some comfy cushions to it?

pinkpedi · 22/03/2026 18:25

@incognito1991thanks! I'm here for all the opinions!

Having spent multiple days this week traipsing around and sitting on sofas in far too many shops and also looking online, these are my questions: 😩

I like the shape but what is the size? Can you really lie down and stretch on it, or only crunch up in a foetal position? Hard to tell from the size.
Are the seats pocket sprung?
Are there other pieces you'd get or just that?
Lead time and warranty?
Reviews for the company?
It's fabric, so does it include any Scotchgarde type coating?

Chewbecca · 22/03/2026 18:29

Looks beautiful to me. But I would have to sit on it before purchase to be sure. Is it in stock anywhere?

pinkpedi · 22/03/2026 18:34

@7238SM it's draining isn't it!!
I am going to call customer services tomorrow and ask about filling, springs/foam/fibre and scotchguarding. I may also get a matching armchair in a different colour. Their showroom was crazy busy and only 2 members of staff and couldn't be bothered to wait around once I saw it wasn't there.
its 227cm long, its a little longer than my current one. Plenty long enough for me.

@Chewbecca thanks. Yes it's in stock and can be delivered in a few days

I work in the furnishing trade OP. Honestly, it looks cheaply and poorly made. If they didn't have an open sofa on display showing what's underneath the fabric, I'd run a mile.

pinkpedi · 22/03/2026 18:47

@MrsLizzieDarcythank you got your advice. Tbh I've never visited a sofa shop where you can see under the fabric.

Style over substance. It looks elegant and fashionable but also incredibly uncomfortable. A sofa should be comfortable as its number 1 priority. Looks are secondary. It can be the best looking thing in the world but if it's not fit for purpose then you'll waste your money.

APurplePanda · 22/03/2026 18:59

ooh its lovely! but id want to sit on it and make sure its comfy before making my purchase especially if its in the main room.

I meant in stock as in to try out & sit on! Comfort is essential.

Tortephant · 22/03/2026 21:14

It looks style over substance to me. A corporate reception and not a comfy home sofa

LibertyLily · 23/03/2026 11:42

I like an unusual sofa, but that doesn't look remotely cosy/comfortable @pinkpedi. Style over substance springs to mind.

When we had a much larger house we had a high-backed Art Nouveau one with original upholstery that was curved in a quarter circle. It looked amazing, but wasn't particularly comfortable, especially for me as I like to lay on a sofa. Fortunately, it wasn't the only sofa we had.

But if I was planning to have just the one sofa - plus a couple of chairs - I'd want something that looked inviting to sit/lay on. Even with cushions I can't imagine that being comfy...and I certainly wouldn't pull the trigger without trying it first.
