If you often have 3 or more adults using one sofa, what shape is it please?.

We've extended the lounge so finally have space for a bigger sofa. But no idea about the new shapes. Modular? Chaise ? corner shape ?

Can those who have a sofa regularly sat on by at least 3 adults, what shape is it please?

If anyone has a corner shape do 2 people sit on one side and one or two on the other ? The room will be plenty long for a wide sofa but not majorly deep in the other dimension, if that makes sense.

Thanks for any pointers or comments.

We just have a basic 3 seater sofa (well we have two of them in the room) because if we had any sort of corner thing everyone would fight over it 😂🙈

We have a large corner sofa that four adults and a 4 year old regularly sit on without any problem.

Ours is long enough that my parents and the 4 year old sit on the long end, I sit in the corner part and my husband sits on the shorter end.

@EggplantSurprise that's a beautiful sofa. We're considering that shape. can I ask you how many people are comfortable sitting on it together? Got to be at least 3 hasn't it ?

We've only had a 2 seater in this house and the children ( adults) usually turn up with their partners so just trying to do the Maths with the current armchairs that we might keep..

We have a large curved sofa that would sit 5 if needed and a straight 3 seater.

three easily and regularly use the curved one.
go for a high back and arms at either end. That helps everyone feel comfortable

We have the dfs patterdale that 2 adults and one teenager easily sit on. We also have a two seater sofa to the left of it and an armchair to the right but the sofa is so squishy that in the evening it’s the obvious choice for us once we settle down.

We have a 3 seater and a 2 seater. There’s too many doors, windows, fireplaces etc for a corner sofa.

Our sofas were specifically chosen because they have narrow arms, so there is plenty of people space. We can actually get 4 adults on the 3 seater, and 3 on the 2 seater.

Three is absolutely comfortable, even if everyone is slobbing and taking up a lot of space. It comes with a big footstool as well, which takes another person.

We also have two armchairs facing it on either side of the fireplace.

My experience of corner units is that they don’t have legroom even if they have seat space . I have a 3 seater, 2 seater , armchair and large pouffe/footstool so there’s something to suit everyone

Hi Ordinary thanks for this. So you're saying the corner part can be comfy ? I can't imagine sitting in there . Going to have to get into a showroom to see them. Can I ask is yours a bit of an L-shape ? What I mean is are both sides equal length from the corner or is one side longer ?

Also can you tell me which makes or brands you were considering please ?

@blankcanvas3 thanks for this. Your sofa looks amazing. I don't think the width of our room is big enough. ( And it's a tad more than the budget will stretch to)., but I can see it would certainly fit a good number very comfortably.thank you
