I would like to take down curtains permanently, and so I’ve been looking at options for window coverings.
Currently considering:
- wooden Venetian (white, or oak?)
- perfect fit Venetian (white or wood effect?)
- Recess fit shutters (white)
My living space has a fairly large single pane window (180cm wide by 150cm tall) with two small opening panes at the top, to the front of the house, and is open plan to the dining space with a similar sized window at the back.
I don’t have an unlimited budget, but was thinking of shutters as a feature at the front, and wooden Venetian at the back?
Considerations are: small children and cats who like to sit on the windowsill and / or cause damage to flimsy items. (Both the kids and the cats!!)
Cats are also long haired, hence me trying to get rid of the curtains, as they just collect fur.
Is it possible for a room to look finished with no curtains? Any styling tips? What window covering would you go for?
The front is south facing, and as it’s an open plan room with big windows at either end, it is quite light. Painted Egyptian cotton. Styling I’d say is a kind of cosy glam! Some art deco type touches, brass, some quirky pink / orange colour pops.
