What does it cost to get decking installed?

Currently looking at the possibility of some decking being installed at my house, I’m in Derbyshire, and have had four different quotes, but wondering if anybody has lived experience of what they paid per square metre? Installed.

Also is composite good? Really interested in both options, also any pitfalls to avoid?

Any help much appreciated!

Doesn’t decking always end up with rats?

We have composite but bought via trade and my DH installed it himself.

What a revelation! No scrubbing, no re-varnishing, no rot, no wobbly planks (secured via batons underneath), no slipping, no algae or mould. Jet washable within an inch of its life.

IMHO it’s far superior to decking for longevity and finish.

Decking or composite does not suffer from rats (or other vermin) so long as it’s installed correctly. It’s important to consider what the void underneath backs on/fronts on to. Ours is level with our patio and backs on to our garage via our outer kitchen & garage wall, so the little feckers stand 0% chance.

wooden decking is a fucking bind. Do not under any circumstances install it. Horrendous to maintain and downright dangerous when it starts to go. We ripped it up and put a patio down but the composite option does sound good.
