We really want to do up our house, its a large new built bungalow and the previous owners have done a white and gold modern type of theme through out, while it is very nice it’s not really my style, I love the look of fashioned fancy look but cannot for the life of me think of what to put into google to find what I’m looking for, what I want is old fashioned fancy! Think Bridgerton, I want to do all the bathrooms more old fashioned but slightly modern and feminine, I want the kitchen to have fancy taps that would look at home in the regency period but in gold, DH doesn’t have a problem with this he just wants it to look nice! Does anyone have any ideas that would help! Tia

You are looking for regency era decor which is elegant and easy on the eye. So I'd start googling.

Do what’s appropriate for your home. Applying “regency” to a new build is unlikely to work.
im not saying you can’t nod to a style or use furniture you like. Its a tricky balance you need to find though.

Julie Jones interior designer has a style quiz with photos of different interior styles on her website which may help you narrow it down, quite useful (American though so much bigger houses).

It sounds like you like a vintage maximalist vibe. Instagram is great for getting ideas. I also don't think you have to stick to the style your house is built in, do what you love!

It sounds like you’re probably drawn to a softer classic look, maybe a bit Regency-inspired, rather than anything too grand or heavy. In homes like yours, gold usually works best in little details such as handles, mirrors, wall lights or picture frames, ..so it adds warmth without taking over.

For the kitchen, colours like warm cream, sage green, dusty blue or other soft neutrals tend to work really well in period homes and help the space feel bright and calm......Adding a few natural textures can also make a big difference things like linen, simple ceramics, and a small dried flower arrangement in softer tones can bring warmth and character without making the room feel cluttered.

If you want to keep things light while still suiting the house, slim glazed doors or internal glass panels can also help open things up nicely.😊
