Best rugs for kids room?

I am looking for a thick rug for my daughters’ bedroom. I need something very thick, as we moved into this house not long ago and the wooden floor is in a state, so I need to cover the areas that are coming off. I also want to buy something cute so they can enjoy the space. Is there any brand or website you would recommend?

I'd put cheap vinyl flooring down and look at Ikea or Dunelm for rugs.

I'd get several cheap ones. I have cotton ones and they go in the washing machine. They are over 10 years old.

The ikea rugs are good, we have several that have lasted for years now.

We’ve got one from dunelm, it’s lots of rainbow coloured squares. It feels really thick and good quality, albeit not natural fibre but for a kids room it’s good as doesn’t stain. It was a very good price I think for what it is.

For kids’ rooms, I’d look for something soft and plush underfoot — it makes a big difference if they’re playing on the floor a lot. Thick pile or a low-to-medium shag rug really helps mask scratches or worn wood underneath too.
A washable or easy-clean rug is practical with kids, and picking a pattern that ties in with your room colours keeps the space looking intentional instead of just functional. Neutral tones with a fun but not too loud design are my favourite — they feel cozy without overwhelming the room.
