Scratches on table

Here is a pic of my table. Sadly it’s not wood, it’s veneer with now a lot of scratches. I’ve tried a brown coloured furniture polish hoping it would adhere to the bare patches but it doesn’t. Any ideas of a product I can use?

Rub mayonnaise on it? Or half a walnut?

Can you sand down the surface then reapply a layer of varnish or oil the wood?

Rustins scratch cover.

As PP says, rub 1/2 a walnut on it. Ideally one you’ve shelled yourself.

Thanks for the ideas. I don’t think I can sand and oil it as it’s veneer not wood. I’ll have a look at the ideas

Could you buy some of the sticky back covering, forgot what it's called in the same wood colour and refresh it that way? Saw it in B&Q the other day in all different colours.

You can sand it if you are very gentle and only sand the varnish off and are careful not to take the veneer off.

Oil may dissolve the glue the veneer is stuck on with. A light sand all over and matt varnish to refresh it?
