Hello, we have a south facing sitting room with a big window. The room comes with a

hunter green wall cabinet (picture attached),
oak floor (picture 2)
taupe blind (picture 3) and
we have ordered a sofa that is dark grey velvet (picture 4).

what colour would you paint the walls?

It wouldn’t attach the blind

I’d go for a pale pink or peachy colour, something like Farrow and Bal’s Pink Ground or Scallop, or Little Green’s Light Beauvais. Basically something warm.

Elephant's Breath. It goes with everything shown here. Perfect warm neutral.

White. You can’t beat white.

Furlane · 03/02/2026 08:32

It’s difficult as you have a muted shade, a bright light warm shade, and a cool shade. Is it too late to change the sofa colour?

Geneticsbunny · 03/02/2026 08:35

I agree. Grey is cool and all the other colours are warm. I think it will be jarring whatever colour you paint the walls.

Offcom · 03/02/2026 14:00

Think I agree with @KnickerlessParsons , I'd choose white. Might think about a contrasting trim.

(By the way, if you're painting it yourselves, I found the Johnstone's Trade Perfect Matt white really DIY friendly)

Yes, that’s exactly what I was going to say. It seems to be the issue that comes up here most often.

Growlybear83 · 03/02/2026 14:21

I think I would choose a very pale sage green.

BabbiCoke · 03/02/2026 14:28

F&B slipper satin, or a pale taupe such as F&B Dimity.

mamato4boys · 03/02/2026 15:56

Thanks all. I think the swatch colour on the material doesn’t really do it justice. It is a rich grey that was quite warm and glossy in person. I definitely can’t change the colour of it, it is ex display and I got it for a great price. It will be shipped to me when the new one comes to take its place in store

I’d go deep dark and moody on all 4 walls-either a deep green or navy blue
