Will damp curtains need a wash?

I’ve recently had a leak and noticed the curtains are damp too.

Will they need a wash or will hanging be enough?
Can they go in the washing machine or shall I take to the dry cleaners?

I love these curtains and can no longer get them so would be upset if I had to replace them. Plus I only got them last year!

For context, curtains were removed for a week so they weren’t hanging- they got wet from being folded on the sofa so I don’t think they would continue to get wet if they were hung up again.

Imo depends on the fabric and how clean they were before the leak.

Most curtains are dry clean only because linings and curtain tape can shrink at different rated to the main fabric

I am lazy so in would rehang them once the whole fabric can be aired and dry evenly in the heat of the room. Blast steam at any fold marks to get them

And ^ check for musty/ mold smells.

check them tomorrow for stain marks you could get tide marks if the water moved the dye (or embed dirt) move on to drycleaning

If they are dry clean only and heavy hanging them risks the fabric moving out of shape or distorting

🤷‍♀️

Can you google the brand and check the care instructions and if there are horror stories?

What does the label say? What are they made of? Are they lined?

I'd have them dry cleaned because if they shrink at all in the wash, the lining won't fit the main fabric anymore.
