Would oak acoustic slats work on this boring wall?

We have a long narrow lounge with a blank wall at the end. I’ve hesitated to fill the wall but it does look bare.

I like the idea of oak acoustic slats but as the TV is there I’m not sure whether to have them offset, or place a circular mirror control on the wall and just place slats on one side, half across the mirror?

I like the idea of a couple of offset shelves on the wall on the other side of the TV but we have our Christmas tree in this corner so I can’t do that.

would the central mirror work or would it look odd with the TV on one side? Or should I have the whole wall in slat?

Any design ideas please? I’m hopeless and the house is so boring

I love the paint colour and the cupboards go really nicely with it, plus that vase is beautiful - you say boring, but it does have a calm, restful vibe.

It's hard to comment on the acoustic slats issue without first seeing the dog which sleeps in that bed, but I think it could look great. And would offset shelves work if they were quite high up and weren't too deep? Just put the tree in front and accept you can't see whatever's on them for a couple of weeks.

A large, shade tolerant pot plant could like nice in the Christmas tree spot the rest of the year.

Thank you! The dog is a little oldie (16)! I had the brainwave of using AI to give me a feel for the slats.

I wouldn’t design a room around a Christmas tree that’s used for 3-4 weeks a year.

I’d do some research around pros and cons. Saw a lot of these walls when house hunting recently for downsizing. One house had them in every room.
I see dust traps and what my daughter used to call “ spidey hidey holes!”

You could probably create that look with the round mirror with careful use of paint. How about half panelling or panel effect wallpaper.
A large plant as a PP suggested would add a feature. I can recommend Beard and Daisies site.
Love your dog btw.

Slats are going to look dated very soon…

slats make me feel quite nauseous and discombobulated. I can’t look at them.

apparently good for soundproofing

That’s my thought too

I went to a friends home recently who has these on one wall, they look lovely but quickly made me feel very nauseous and made my eyes go funny… just a warning because I was considering them beforehand but now would avoid

Oh what a beaut! ❤️ ❤️❤️

I think the mockups look nice, but interesting to read the other comments - I’ve had that weird eye effect when ironing stripy fabric but not sure I’ve had it from acoustic panels.

Thank you all, we love our little doggie so much, the whole house revolves around her.
The eye thing is interesting, I do have a perimenopausal tendency for lines and patterns to make me feel a bit odd so I definitely need to tread carefully. I wish I knew someone who had these, I could test them out. Need to find a cafe or something that has one so I can sit with a cuppa and test them out 🤣

I think the slats look a bit like an office waiting room trying to be a bit trendy. Not very home feeling to me. Maybe some wall mounted shelves with plants on? And/or a mirror instead?
