Home decoration

Is this normal?

I’ve been chasing a decorator for months to give me a date for work to happen. At one point he suggested starting work the following day which I had to decline as it was not convenient. He has now suggested he begins work on Thursday which again doesn’t work as I have plans.

I should add me and my partner both work from home so we asked for plenty of notice when scheduling dates as it means quite a bit of upheaval.

is this normal when arranging a painter/decorator? I would have liked at least a week’s notice ideally.

He's obviously busy and trying to fit you in. Seems pretty normal to me. We had a painter here Saturday and today. Think he's coming back next Saturday. Had no notice about today really but he's good and we trust him so yes, we are working around him.

No I would have given up on this guy. Sure jobs run over but surely he can say ‘end of January I’ve booked you for x days’. I hate this trying to fit in little jobs in between big jobs. Try and get someone else and be firm on the dates you can’t do too.

Thanks both. I think I’m just particularly frustrated as this guy has messed us around multiple times already over the course of 4 months so I’m honestly reluctant to bend over backwards to accommodate him.
I’ll see how I feel in the morning
