I’m awful at painting - I mean really awful!

I need my hall, stairs and landing painting and my kitchen.

I’m planning on getting quotes - roughly how much do you think I’m looking at? Me providing the paint

I'd say £800-£1000 for hall, stairs and landing, depending on whereabouts you live.

It's the most difficult part of the house to decorate and will probably take a week, so £200 a day ish.

Dp is a painter and decorator. Honestly, it's impossible to say as it depends on the level of prep that's needed and that you want. The room size. If it needs lining / filling / stripping. Are you wanting the woodwork doing? What paint you want. You should really get a few estimates in to get an idea. Anyone that gives you a quote over the internet isn't worth their salt.

Aww don't say that - it'll be nice when its painted. And it's yours which is more secure than renting.

I missed the bit where you said you wanted the kitchen painted too but just wanted to say that in the midlands area, decorators charge roughly £200 a day.

What brand of paint do you usually buy? I always go for Dulux coz it's a good brand but neither a cheapy brand nor a Farrow and Ball type price. Never had any problems with Dulux.

I'm in the sunny south - three story house with big rooms and high ceilings. We had the hallways and stairs painted: walls + woodwork and the cloakroom (1x2 meters) and the shower room (1x3 meters).

Our village guy gave us a good rate b/c he didn't have to drive anywhere: tow men, £1,000 and it took 6 days. We bought all the paint (dulux or similar); maybe it was £200? There was enough left over from the ch

Decorators like to have 2+ rooms to do at a time so that they can rotate between them because different parts of the job take different amounts of time.

South West here and most decorators seem to be about £250 for an 8 hour day.
