Bedroom decor - stuck with grey carpet

Desperate need to redecorate our bedroom so I’ve been looking at Pinterest for inspo and there’s lots of styles I like but I can’t picture of any it working with the light grey carpet I have, which I can not afford to change.

I have tried searching for bedroom with light grey carpets but the results that come back don’t actually show that. And most of it is just plastered with more grey, which I hate. I will NOT be adding a single bit of grey to that room.

Im very into neutral and earth tones. Willing to consider all things really, panelling, etc. just not bright colours. Would love some suggestions.

I think it would look lovely with greens and browns - quite feisty ones, so olive rather than sage, and chocolate rather than beige.
Do you want specific paint suggestions?

I also have a grey carpet in my bedroom and painted the walls a pinkish / terracotta colour which has warmed up the room greatly

Some colourful bathmats and towels

Grey carpet is neutral so you can paint any colour. We have a silvery grey carpet now. Bedroom is a beautiful dark blue. Was a lovely green before.

Not sure there's any colour that wouldn't work with it.

My whole house has grey carpet.

it’s sufficiently neutral you can get away with most colours. My lounge is painted terracotta and has a red and gold rug and beige type sofas. You can’t really see the carpet under all the cat toys.

my bedroom is painted light blue and I’ve got a dark blue bed and blue bedding.

dc1 has a completely white room and Ikea pine furniture.

dc2 has a cream walls, white bed and pink accessories everywhere.

it doesn’t go with green though.

Wouldn’t they look slightly out pf place in the bedroom @Umy15r03lcha1? Smile

We have beige walls but with a grey kind of base to the colour that works with the carpet in a neutral way then nice wallpaper on the head board wall - I think that is seen as dated now having a feature wall but I really like the nice Laura Ashley blue birds/leaves paper.

I’ve gone with sage green and pink accents and the carpet looks lovely with those

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'm a little stuck in my mind on the beautiful rooms I see on Pinterest that have wood flooring with rugs and everting else just blends so beautifully that I can't envision that all but with a grey carpet instead.

Perhaps I'm also a little bitter because I never wanted the grey carpet in the first place 😆

I find Pinterest so unrealistic for most normal UK homes - try searching on Instagram instead if you have that, much more realistic inspiration on there.

I know what you mean about grey, unless you want that cold grey and white Essex new build look it's really hard to make earthy tones work with it. I had a similar issue with a mid grey carpet in our living room. I've just decorated it how I would if I had the floor I wanted (I want a neutral herringbone wooden floor at some point in the future) and it doesn't look too bad.

We used that before decorating the hall and it worked really well. We moved the furniture around and the pictures and mirrors. Really pleased with the result. It looks bright and fresh.

I would go taupe and navy or taupe and green.
