Find me an un-ruggable rug!

Hi, we’ve just moved from a house with hard floors throughout to a carpeted cottage and I’m really struggling to find a rug that sits properly on carpet. I have several ruggable rugs from our old house which I love , but they move all over the place. Anyone recommend somewhere to buy proper heavy rugs for carpet? I like traditional patterns, not modern, and ideally with hints of Coral & blue.

I’ve bought rugs from Kukoon before and been very pleased with them.

We have a very heavy - and expensive 🙄 - 100% wool traditional pattern rug (as it happens in coral and blue!) that we bought in Liberty back in 2008. It currently sits on a painted wooden floor in our cottage, but we've had it sitting on carpet without issues in a previous home.

Our other rugs are mostly kilims (antique/Oka) or jute (John Lewis), but we have a huge antique Persian rug found on eBay that also doesn't slip. The seller had a bricks and mortar rug shop in/near Marlow iirc. We also bought a - more contemporary, shaggy - pure wool rug in Homesense during last January's sale that had a retail price of £1000, but was just £135!

That’s what I’m looking for- a really heavy traditional rug- maybe I’ll check out liberty 🫣

It might be worth looking on Vinterior/eBay/The Saleroom etc or even Marketplace as there are sometimes bargains to be found. We once bought a smaller Liberty rug - with original label in tact - on eBay for a fraction of the price of the other one we have. We sold it on Marketplace last year for around £350.

Hi Snugmummy
You don’t need to buy new rugs especially as you have rugs already and you love them.
You need to look for a product that prevents rugs from slipping. I bought this and it worked wonderfully. It’s a fabric that is sticky but doesn’t leave a residue or anything. You place it on the carpet and put rug on top. I guarantee the rug won’t budge. I’ll try and find the name of it and where you can buy this. It wasn’t that expensive and cheaper than buying new rugs which only move on your carpet.

I checked out Dunelm. Type in:- Non slip rug underlay. The one called Ruggies and states that it sticks.

Found these really good when I was looking for a cat-proof rug. Modern and traditional styles. As others say, getting non-slip under-felt is really important especially if it is on a slippery floor.
