Green Lounge Paint

Before I go looking for samples has anyone got a green living room? I’m thinking sage green. We have bay windows and a picture rail that will have white paint above.

It’s not a huge room so tempted to choose a farrow and ball colour but know DH would appreciate cheaper options. Has anyone got a lovely classic colour they could recommend?

This is the kind of idea I have but don’t know the colour. Thanks all (any pics would be amazing).

I'm just about to go all in on Dulux Fresh Artichoke, fingers crossed!.

F and B Card Room Green or Green Smoke (though the latter may be too dark, depending on the light).

We've used quite a few greens over the years -
We painted the living room at our last house in Farrow & Ball Olive which is a gorgeous archive colour still available direct from F&B. However, it's probably too deep a colour for your requirements @Summerbay23.

In one of the bedrooms there we used Little Greene Sage Green which is lovely, but again that was quite saturated. We had their Citrine in our snug for a while but - even by our standards - it was a bit vibrant!

We've painted the exterior joinery of two previous houses F&B Green Smoke which we found to be quite a blueish green.

F&B Yeabridge Green is possibly too bright. I've recently used it in a guest bedroom in our cottage where it provides a real pop of colour.

I'll try to find some pics....

Here you go....

The bedroom with the red pillows is F&B Yeabridge Green, the other bedroom pic is LG Sage Green and the living room is F&B Olive.

What beautiful rooms and colours. Not quite sure exactly what I’m looking for but appreciate your response anyway.

Crown's Mellow Sage is lovely

We have Dulux Overtly Olive. I love it so much we've used it in our bedroom as well. The sample online looks grey, but it really isn't, it's a beautiful, warm,l soft green that changes slightly depending on the light.

Fannyannie · 28/12/2025 16:29

The colour in the photo looks like Farrow & Ball French grey. We have this in our 1930’s front room with picture rail.

AppropriateAdult · 28/12/2025 17:22

We have F&B French Grey in our bedroom and it looks very similar to your pic - it’s lovely. We didn’t use the actual F&B but got it mixed in B&Q (Valspar) so much cheaper and still decent quality. I’ll see if I can find a pic.

Farrow and Ball Lichen - get it colour matched by Johnstones

Noeggsontoast · 28/12/2025 17:58

Another for Farrow and Ball Lichen, we’ve just done our lounge in this.

Inlimboin50s · 28/12/2025 18:50

Farrow and Ball Old white would look amazing. I've used it in most of my rooms and its often complemented.

CherryRipe1 · 29/12/2025 06:20

Farrow and Ball ball green is nice. Johnstones do a colour match, it's superior paint and it's cheaper.

Vicotto · 29/12/2025 07:35

Possibly a bit darker than you’re thinking but my sister has just painted her from room with Coat Paint - shade Mansard and I think it looks lovely!

Vert de Terre (farrow & ball) - I did mine in that back in 2012 and I still love it. Very similar to the room you have posted.

pambeesleyhalpert · 29/12/2025 15:53

We’ve got Salix by little greene

olderbutwiser · 29/12/2025 15:56

Little Greene Boringdon Green - we have it in our sitting room.

3peassuit · 29/12/2025 16:05

We have farrow and ball mizzle in our north facing breakfast room. It a greyish green and very easy to live with.

CharlieChaplin99 · 29/12/2025 16:09

We have a slightly paler green in our north facing front room. It’s a mixed version of farrow and ball paint colour Cromarty its quite subtle, a little lighter than the colour you were after but we find it fresh and relaxing. So much so that we painted our north facing bedroom the same colour.

averythinline · 29/12/2025 17:35

With greens i've found need to be really careful with light and also copies .. French grey was a lovely colour in my sth facing bathroom but really drab in nth facing living room...as did Dulux olive which look great in friends house! Cooking apple green looked lovely n fresh in north facing but Johnsons mix really lacked depth so ended up repainted in F&B ... im probably going yeabridge green in lounge as keeps its green ness...in nth/west facing room ratger than going murky! Have Eddy in bedroom which is lovely if you want lighter shade...

badboss2020 · 29/12/2025 18:07

Dulux overtly olive. I think that’s basically what is in the photo.

PInkyStarfish · 29/12/2025 19:29

Avoid olive green as it can have a yellowing look about it.
