Ive redecorated my downstairs loo but im stuck on what colour to paint the mouldings and coving when I finally add them. They are fairly small sized not huge and not detailed.
Do I go a cream colour or stick with plumb like the tiles. Ive added some photos of my actual room along with chat gpt help. Ignore the plastic on the floor, its to stop the paint getting on it. Ill add a photo of the actual floor in case that helps. Im totally confused and cant decide!! Please help

Cream colour for me. I like the brown but only for a minute or two, it's overpowering and 70s

The blue in the wallpaper.

It isnt brown, its a reddish plumb, poor lighting on phone.

Hmm. Even so, it think a neutral light colour would be my preference

It’s very dark so it needs a light colour for balance.

I’d actually go with white as I think it’s important for loos to look clean

You've gone very bold so why not match the mouldings to your towel rail and taps?

LibertyLily · 16/12/2025 15:41

I much prefer the plum colour! The cream/white makes the whole scheme look too 'choppy' for me.

I did similar im my downstairs bathroom. I painted the ceiling the same colour as the wall. I love it. The window sill is white.

You could pick out the blue or the green in the paper which would lighten the room a little. You are clearly going for a rich indulgent downstairs loo which I love. A neutral colour would be quite jarring with the paper you have chosen.
But what colour do you use in your house to link all your rooms? That could influence what you choose here.

I would stick with the plum colour.
