Where to find nice rugs that don't cost the earth?

I'd really like a new rug for the front room that will deliver before Christmas and am seriously running out of time!

Budget - about £200 or so.

I've looked at every rug in Dunelm, Next, La Redoute and John Lewis and haven't found the right one yet.

Can anyone suggest where I should look next? Thanks :)

I spent over 300 on a washable rug from ruggable, looked lovely but has never been the same since washed, so really wouldn't recommend them! I'm still searching for a nice rug 😟

I think I want something with a higher pile count that washable ones anyway (or at least what I imagine them to be like).

The worn out rug it's replacing is at least nice and soft. I want to replace it before Christmas so we have a nice new soft rug to sit and open the presents on.

I'm wondering if I'm just more fussy than I realised! I still haven't found anything I like!

The sofas in my front room have grey herringbone covers, and the soft furnishings are mostly teal, blue and mustard yellow, with some dark green, orange and pink highlights. Colourful!

I want a carpet that's soft. However, the kids are still fairly messy so I want something practical that can take the inevitable small stains from things being spilt without it runing the carpet. So, it needs a pattern and no white/very pale bits.

Sadly, a lot of the lovely rugs I've looked at have large white/cream backgrounds or sections. I've also looked at lots of lovely single colour wool carpets, but they'll just get wrecked over time I think.

Like these for example. Lovely, but they're either too plain or have too much white - bound to get ruined in no time!

I also like rugs like this, but wondering if it's entirely too much colour! 15 years ago, I wouldn't have hesitated!

But now I think perhaps, just perhaps, with the colourful furnishings as well, perhaps it's just a bit too much...

(And also, they have white on them too)

I have 3 now. Good price/size/pattern and they come folded up in a parcel within a couple of days. They feel nice underfoot and can go in the washing machine. I want one for every room !

This is the one I picked in the end. It's on the sale, and there's an extra 20% discount on top today, and I was able to stack it on top of the original discount. So I went a bit over my budget of £200 - it was £280, but a nice big wool rug and reduced from £449 (well, apparently - I'm quite cynical of sale prices online these days!)

Just got to keep my fingers crossed it comes by Christmas now. It's a slight risk! I paid for fast delivery, but it still said the delivery window was 19-23 Dec! Just gotta hope it doesn't slip...

Add a little bit more to your budget and instead of cheap machine-made, you can get handmade Persian rug, PureRug has high quality rugs I bought from them
