New settee

I hope this is the correct area to post this in.

It's been some years since I've purchased a new settee, I think the current one is about 10 years old, and tbh I always got them from M&S because the quality was good and they were really comfy. Also not overly big in size unlike the ones I used to see in SCS or DFS.

Unfortunately M&S no longer sell them, can anyone recommend a decent manufacturer please?

Many thanks

I’m looking at sofas sold by John Lewis. I like the quality they offer.

Well after my lovely M and S sofa got a bit dated we spent over a year looking for something as good. Finally found one comfortable to sit in at Next. However when it was delivered it felt nothing like the one in the store. Complained immediately. Far bit of tooing and froing until they said no it’s fine we’re not doing anything. Since then I have spent the cost of the sofa again replacing the cushions and getting extra webbing fitted. The upholsterer said the cushion fillings were rubbish and the webbing insufficient so I wouldn’t buy from Next again.

Thank you! I didn't realise John Lewis sold them TBH, I'll take a look 🙂

I’ve always bought from DFS and they’ve never been an issue I just opt for the ones that fit my room. The sofas I’ve bought have always lasted well and only been replaced due to moving house and needing bigger or wanted different style.

DP just bought from SCS and it’s great quality.

That's awful! Thanks for the heads up about Next, I'll avoid them. Sorry you had to go through all of that though🙁

Can I suggest that you try an independent family run company that specialises in sofas. The service will be exceptional there’s bound to be one close by.look at at brands like GPlan Parker knoll ect

In the north west of England Arighi Bianchi is great - loads of British made settees, some very fancy but lots of reasonably priced ones too.

I have a compact 3 seater from SCS and have been very impressed with the quality and comfort . Service was good too

I've had it about a year and a half now.
