Why are double roller blinds are so dull!?

We want new blinds in our road-facing kitchen and double roller blinds (sheer for daytime, blackout for nighttime) seem the ideal solution for our needs. However, the only ones we can find have plain cream/grey on the blackout material. I've asked several companies if they would customize to use one of the hundreds of lovely coloured/patterned standard roller blind materials but they just won't for some reason (?) So my questions are:

  • Does anyone know where I could get such a thing as a double roller with nice patterns?

Or, if not:

  • Has anyone got two separate blinds fitted with a sheer roller at the back and a blackout roller in front? How do you find it? I'm concerned it might be clunky/stick out into the room too far.

Huge thanks in advance x

Look at Rol-Lite blinds, you can even have them made in your own fabric. They've got a huge selection.

Same with Luxaflex. It may be worth looking at a Luxaflex Duette blind - they do a day and night version so you've got 2 fabrics on one blind and the cassette's are fairly compact.

A friend in a similar situation went for obscuring film on the windows and a patterned blackout blind when she couldn't find a double blind. I hadn't come across them before that. The film she used was easy to remove.

I bought double rollers from John Lewis & switched out the supplied boring blind for a nicer JL one as the roller mechanism attachments are the same

Thanks for your replies 😊 @thrive25 do you have a link to the JL double rollers please?
