A nice bowl for keys hair grips work lanyard etc that gets dumped in kitchen!

I’ve spent weeks trying to find one - max budget probs £20. I guess I’m looking for a trinket type bowl that can sit on the kitchen table or radiator cover to put all these bits of crap that just get dumped (mostly by DH 😒)! Thanks.

I just chuck mine in the fruit bowl. Not much help, sorry.

£20 just for a bowl to chuck stuff in ?? I'd be looking to pick something up in the charity shop or car boot sale.

What sort of style? A nice bit of turned wood? Vintage or studio ceramic or glass? I’d browse eBay.
Have you been to tkmax?

There’ll be loads on Etsy. I found a lovely little independent pottery maker - slightly weird and original items, a bit wonky. Bought a few items of hers now, not expensive and total one offs.

Agree with this.

A good rule of thumb is to not spend on storage that just masks a clutter problem.

that is a live sale on Ebay, but I the exact same bowl that a friend gave me over 20 years ago, it is Portmeirion glass, it is quite large and flat, and it is great for holding the bits and bobs that you need every day like keys and lanyards etc.

Lots of decorative mango wood bowls online, wood is good because it's not going to clatter too much when you throw your keys in.

JetFlight · 16/11/2025 11:53

Tk maxx or an antique shop.

MardyAnn · 16/11/2025 13:35

Don’t put it down put it away. One of the best things I ever did to make life easier and tidier was create space in a kitchen cupboard for all the random fruit bowl crap. We have hooks inside the door for keys and lanyards and labelled boxes for bobbles, pens etc

FullOfMomsense · 16/11/2025 13:41

Oliver Bonas, Anthropology, Homesense for that budget I'd say. Etsy for a quirky homemade item is a great shout

Giggorata · 16/11/2025 13:41

I would get something nice from the charity shop and possibly look at nice casseroles or wide jars as well, unless having a lid on to hide the clutter would discourage people from using it.

We have a couple of large plastic fruit bowls for these odds and sods which have had for ages - bought them decades ago on holiday in Italy. The advantage is that they don't chip or break or make loud noises when things are dropped in them! They are made (from recycled plastic) by Respeel & van Spaendonck - they come up on Ebay occasionally and are in single colours or mixed like this:-

I took my dc to one of those paint your own pottery places and now use the plate they painted as somewhere we can put lanyards etc
