How many mirrors is too many mirrors in a room?

Quite a dark large dining room. It’s got a large circular mirror over the mantelpiece that bounces a bit of light round but is too high up to use as a mirror. There’s a big old Victorian side board with an oval mirror, it reflects candles nicely. I’ve spotted these mirrors and was thinking of putting 2 of them on the wall opposite the windows. Effectively there’ll then be a mirror on each wall. Too many? mirrors

This Lyshia mirror from Dar will bring the wow factor to any space. The unique Art Deco-inspired design features four squares intersecting with a central circular mirror. Gold-tone framing around each creates a striking finish.

Hard to say what the overall effect will be but what a gorgeous mirror! Love the idea of two of them opposite windows.
I would do it.
Any chance of pics so I can visualise it better?
Have you got pictures up too?

One is too many. In my religion the dead look at you through mirrors. Do you want loads of dead people looking at you?

At the Sir John Soane museum the breakfast room has more than 100!

The ghosts might tell you if your eyeliner is a bit wonky? Like ‘up a bit, down a bit… no, stop there unless you want to look like a shit Amy Winehouse’ kinda thing?

I like those mirrors as they look a bit window-ish in a porthole meets Tudor rose kind of a way. I would say go for it.

SardinesOnGingerbread · 14/11/2025 19:35

One. I hate them. Creepy bastard things.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 14/11/2025 19:35

Any more than one!

Well maybe the OP doesn't share your religion, so it's not a concern for her. Also why would be dead people be interested in what she's having for tea?

A very good reason for taking breakfast in your room.

I have two circular mirrors facing each other on opposite walls and looks great

Theoldwrinkley · 14/11/2025 19:40

I have a dark hallway. I have inherited 2 lovely antique mirrors but they are totally different (one mother of pearl and ebony frame, one brass inlay). So I've embraced their difference and have about 20....all different shapes (squiggly one which I think is ikea, small hand held dressing table, a long glass for checking clothing etc). The whole wall is an artistic arrangement. All except the 2 I inherited are from 'freecycle' so cost nothing. And light is reflected beautifully from the front door.

LibertyLily · 14/11/2025 20:30

We have lots of mirrors, most of which are antique/vintage, so I'd go for it @HelloCharming because there's no such thing as too many, imo. At our last - dark, 400 year old - house we had around twenty mirrors placed strategically to reflect and bounce light around and, if anything, I think we'll have more when our downsize project is finished.

I'm assuming several posters on this thread have cracked the wine open early tonight.
Those mirrors look lovely. I think I could do with them in my dark dining room.

captainoctopus · 14/11/2025 21:43

Went into a loo once that was completely mirrored, walls, floor, ceiling - everything. That was too many 😂

AgentPidge · 14/11/2025 21:49

They'll look lovely, I think.
