Does this colour look nice?

About to move in and thinking of changing the kitchen to something like this ( the dark one). We will be changing the handles on the cupboards to antique brass to tie in the grunge tiles. Any opinions or suggestions would be brilliant thanks.

While I love the colour for your conservatory where the TV is, I am not sure about the kitchen area. It might make it look and feel very drab. The cabinets seem to be glossy so would reflect all that darkness back into the room.

eatreadsleeprepeat · 03/11/2025 15:48

I love the dark but might go for something just a bit warmer, a rich olive colour maybe?

HungerGamess · 03/11/2025 15:53

In the 2nd (darker walls) photo, I think you’d need to change the cabinet doors too as the kitchen area doesn’t look right. Alternatively, you could just paint the window walls only and keep the walls the cabinets are on, painted light.

@eatreadsleeprepeat funnily enough DH fancies olive green, I will have a look
@TheCoralDuck I never thought about the gloss doing that, thank you.
@HungerGamess thanks I will consider that too

Not my cup of tea

Anotherdayanotherpound · 03/11/2025 16:07

I think you need to take pictures of your current kitchen Into some paint shops like farrow and ball or whoever you have locally that gives proper colour advice. The green itself is fine it just clashes badly with the floor and cupboard fronts. If you want a suitable deep colour I’m sure you’ll find one but you need to work with your flooring if you’re going to keep it, or it will look awful

muddyford · 03/11/2025 16:07

Nor mine!

Davros · 03/11/2025 16:12

No thanks. Dark blue/green Matt has been done to death

dollyblue01 · 03/11/2025 16:15

It’s abit too dark , looks mossy in that area now, I’d go for something lighter.

Travelcrazy · 03/11/2025 16:15

@Davros this is true, any ideas?
@Anotherdayanotherpound I didn't know that there are shops that do that, will look into it thanks

@Travelcrazy I knew I should include a suggestion but I’m only good at identifying what I don’t like 🤷‍♀️ Soz

The darker photo looks dark and dreary.

i like the first photo better but would have to get rid of those horrible tiles.

PainterInPeril · 03/11/2025 16:45

How about a dark red? It would warm it up a bit.

Emanwenym · 03/11/2025 16:45

I don't like the dark colour, it's oppressive. I'd go for a lighter brighter colour.

Travelcrazy · 03/11/2025 16:49

I think I have made a bad choice 😅 i will go back to the drawing board. Any suggestions welcome.

Prefer the lighter kitchen. Dark one looks somehow cheap and oppressive. How about injecting some colour in the kitchen with coloured tiles?

Emanwenym · 03/11/2025 17:02

I would go for bright yellow or lime green on the wall that's got the conservatory beyond it.

Davros · 04/11/2025 10:51

@Travelcrazy I DO have a suggestion! F&B radicchio or similar. I love it and it would go with your units. As long as there’s not too much of it

Poodlelove · 04/11/2025 11:13

Lighter one looks much better in my opinion.
