Custom-made valances/bedskirts?

Has anyone had one custom-made for an irregularly sized bed base? And if so, who did you use, and were you happy?

Our bed base is a non-standard size (both in terms of length/width and drop) and I'm tearing my hair out trying to find a pre-made valance/bedskirt that would fit. And while the made-to-order options (e.g., on Etsy) have a wider range of sizes available, I still can't find one that's right for our bed.

This is a bed that DH bought as a "temporary fix" several years ago (without asking me first!) and it's not very nice, nor does it really go with the rest of the room. I'd rather not get a new bed altogether - both from a sustainability and cost perspective - but I worry that getting a custom-made valance will end up being unreasonably expensive...

Can you buy a bigger one and hook the spare bit up under the middle of the mattress?

If you contact a seller on Etsy, they may be able to do a custom size?

Or, buy one that's too big and take to a tailor (dry cleaners often have one for small fixes) to adjust.

Could you reupholster the base?

Could you use something like a king-size sheet as a cover over the base.

Something like Sadie Stripe Cotton Valance | Secret Linen Store shouldn't be too difficult to make.

You can get HUGE bedspreads which will cover a grotty base, would that work? We have a massive patchwork quilt on our bed which nearly covers our bed base (you can see the castors) but it’s not particularly noticeable.

Oops. My bad. I use a blanket/throw over the base and under the mattress to hide the underbed drawers and dust.
