Hi all, have £10k to redo my whole front room , it’s a large living space , have only chosen the fire so far … what would be good app’s etc to use to help me do a design? Looked for ideas on Insta but none reflect my room is a large rectangle

Honestly I find the best way to help redo a room is to look on Pinterest and be specific. So you can put in 'large rectangular living room' and then a couple of words that suggest the effect you want (cosy, classic, mid-century, maximalist, child-friendly - whatever) Keep refining your descriptions until you see some that you love and then build your design around them. I did that with both DC when revamping their bedrooms and with DH when redecorating our bedroom and it really worked. We made choices we'd never have thought of, which really pulled the design together.

Agree with suggestion for Pinterest but also look at Houzz. When you have some ideas you can try out apps to look at wall colours, furniture etc. The paint companies have free apps to do this in a limited way (with their colours).

Tools like Sketchup allow you to create a 2d plan and convert it to 3d for full visualisation, even in the free version. I found this brilliant as I’m rubbish at really visualising a finished room from my plans. It takes a bit of practice but there are some excellent Youtube tutorials from Sketchup to help you get started - use them, you will save time. They make their money from commercial sales but for a a domestic user the free version is plenty and once you have learned to use it you can try it on other rooms. Its not AutoCad but you don’t need AutoCad for planning a room refurb.
