Going to buy one this year after many years of disappointing real ones that don’t last in our warm house. Also fed up of the cleaning and faff when it’s time to get rid.

I’d like a pre lit one and I want it to look as real as possible and last a long time. Current front runner is the ultra mountain pine from Christmas tree world. Our ceiling is 230cm so will probably get the 6foot as I think 7foot may be tight.

does anyone have this tree? It’s currently £230. Also does anyone know if they reduce their prices further around BlackFriday etc? I need it for first week of December.

I am also looking at balsam hill, the white company and John Lewis trees if anyone has any recs in those

We’ve had a couple from John Lewis which have lasted really well. They’re for different rooms, so both still in use!
I’ve bought the Fir tree diffuser sticks from The White Company each year so the room still smells of a real tree!

We have a Balsam Hill one. It is stunning. But you have to be prepared to fluff it a lot the first time you unpack it. You can make it look like the photos on their website.

There is a helpful video on YouTube by Balsam Hill explaining what people think a fluffed branch is and what you should be doing to fluff it effectively. Think more 90 degree angles and fanning the branch tips to fill the space. There are 2 types of branches in my tree, a forked branch with several tips in each and one that splits into a 3 branch ends, again several tips on each of those. My children were early teens and managed it, we took a few branches each per layer. We bring down one layer at a time and fluff. Easy.

The storage bag is generous and good quality. There is a lot of love for BH in here. I've had mine 7 years I think.

I dithered for many years over a Balsam Hill tree and about 3 years ago took the plunge. It's a lovely tree and looks good once fluffed and decorated. It's so easy to put together and it's pre lit.
The only gripe I have is that little branches seem to come off each year. It's out of warranty now but when I did ring to say the transformer had broken, under the 2 year warranty I got a new one quickly

Thanks all. I do love the look of the Balsam Hill ones. The reason for considering the one from CTW as it seems to be slightly smalller in width which I thought may fit my space better. But I’m still looking at all options! Do BH usually drop prices around BF?

following with interest as I want to upgrade to a large tree! Have had a small four footer for too long now and it just doesn't give the same feeling.

I saw a few in John Lewis but I didn't get the same wow factor so far, perhaps still a bit early for the full collection. Will be keeping an eye out for the White Company one too.

Do you guys store your big tree in the loft or somewhere else? I will probably need it to live in the loft ultimately but that's probably a next year problem....

I love Christmas Tree World trees, and have the ultra mountain pine 7 feet, pre lit. Absolutely love it (Large house, and have 5 of them) Easy to assemble, very easy to get the lights working – had a bit of a nightmare with previous Balsam Hill tree - and I love the branches that stick out a little bit more, because they are perfect for my longer hanging decorations! I think the oldest one is about four years old now, still perfect.

I’ve had a couple of Balsam Hill trees, and I rate the Christmas Tree World ones higher. I won’t buy from BH again after a truly appalling customer service situation with the last one.

Edited to say: I don’t recall them reducing the price for Black Friday

We have had the ultra mountain pine for 7 years now but not pre lit . Everyone who visits thinks it’s real until we tell them otherwise . I’d wholeheartedly recommend.

A pre Black Friday bump!

Went with a tree from Habitat in the end. Great price point, realistic looking ends. 6ft unlit. But so far so good! Looking forward to decorating it.

I have the 6ft ultra mountain pine and it's a great tree, very realistic. However, I wish I had got the 7ft. I have standard height ceilings. The only thing with the 7ft is it might have been too wide.
