Struggling with furniture placement in our living room. We use it mainly to watch tv, normally 4 people in here. The large fireplace dominates and large sash window. We have double doors and another door. So trying to work out where to place seating is tricky, we like the space in front of the window clear. Any ideas welcome. Might consider new furniture at some stage. The sofa and cuddle chair we have a of quite large proportions.
It's 4.76x5.36 m.

I have no advice, but just wanted to say it’s a lovely room!

What’s wrong with the layout you currently have?

Larger sofa facing the fire, behind the coffee table and cuddle sofa by the little window? Then a plant in the right of the large window.
Mine you,I have the same problem and always moving mine around

Large sofa facing the fireplace to balance the room. I’d also add a large patterned rug to bring some warmth and texture to the room.

I don't think it's terrible but thought it could be improved. I think I always tend to push furniture back onto walls. I like the idea of putting sofa in front of fire and a rug especially during winter we could try that.

definitely bring the sofa that is opposite the fireplace forward by about 1m towards the fireplace. then you can have bookshelves / plants / artwork / decorative lamp behind the sofa

add a v large rug to 'draw the room together' - I'd have a pale terracotta colour with a pattern to complement the fire surround.

I have another corner sofa and cuddle chair that I could try in the space. Let me know if you think it would be better in the space.
I was also thinking of putting the tv on the wall on a moveable bracket.

I think I’d move both sofas forward into the room, closer to the fireplace. But the thing that would bother me most about the current labour would be having to walk round an armchair that’s almost blocking the door.

Your first photos are nice but I'd pull the sofas away from the walls.
The little tables are too small and don't go with the sofas.

No to the second set of sofas.

The fireplace is the real problem it’s way too big for the room. With that fireplace the room is best suited a snug with sofas and chairs either side of the fireplace as this is the social point. Do you have another room to use for watching tv? If not the other option is put the TV over the fire. Not my preference but it’s what a lot of people do these days.

I agree with that. A friend suggested taking out all the bricks up from the mantle as they're just for show anyway and plastering over. Then you have a mantle and it's not too much brick.

I remember seeing an interiors program where they said that in larger room you never put the sofas up against the wall.

Try moving the sofas a little closer to the fireplace and put a hall table (long and thin) behind it?

Do it.

I’d move the sofa(s) in and get rid of the table in the middle. I like sitting on the floor in front of the fire with a sofa to lean on.

I’d take down all of the brick fireplace and have a much less dominant surround.

I love the window with the low sill!
