So : this will be for my small daughter. I bought myself a warren evans years ago, with a mattress, and its been amazing. Now im looking again there and a double plus mattress will be close to 2k. Im torn between spending this on her or just going cheaper. I do know we won't change any bed for years as the previous one we had in the room was 2nd hand and I had it for 20 years. Is this a ridiculous price?

Following. Also have had Warren Evan beds before and need to buy a couple now but I am shocked at how expensive they are now compared to 10 years ago.

MyCatPrefersPeaches · 08/10/2025 09:29

That sounds expensive. We’ve always used Taurus Beds, who make British wooden beds, and they are excellent quality. Just had a look and the question seems to be more about what you want to spend on the mattress but you could potentially get what you want for around £1000 from there depending on style and mattress (could go up much more….). So what Warren Evans want sounds expensive to me but, depending on mattress quality, it may not be out of step with what these things cost…

Get Laid beds are good

I bought dd3 a Warren Evans mattress and got the frame elsewhere. I don't understand why the frame is so expensive when there's not a lot to them.

Eesha · 09/10/2025 03:20

@Manthide I actually think of the frames are pretty, so was thinking to do it the other way round

Would you be buying it in pink? Both my daughters would have hated that by about age 12. Is there a more neutral version and she can then change room colour based on blankets etc as she grows ?

They do have a good sale on at the moment. We bought our mattress last October and the delivery men were excellent. Of course the council decided to close our road for resurfacing that day so they had quite a long way to carry it but it didn't faze them.

@Bobbie12345678 very true, I dont mind neutral at all. In fact, thinking now very plain because can imagine how dirty this may get!

Years ago I bought a middle of the road bed for my son. It came with quite a cheap mattress which I thought was truly awful, lumpy and uncomfortable. However my son was so much lighter than me that it didn’t feel lumpy at all to him and my other children agreed. They slept on it in turn for several years and then when they were bigger I bought them better ones. So personally I wouldn’t splash out for a child.

We've used Cotswold Company and got on really well, their prices are very good, and they have outlets too which have even better prices. I'd definitely invest in a decent mattress, which might end up being more than the bed! Not sure if it's her style but this one is beautiful www.cotswoldco.com/bedroom-furniture/beds/double-beds/elkstone-mellow-oak-double-bed/

I love Warren Evans beds. We have three in our house and when we tried to buy a fourth were disappointed to find that they had closed down. I'm surprised to discover today (as a result of your post) that they have reopened.
Because we couldn't buy a Warren Evans bed for our son we bought one from getlaidbeds.co.uk instead. Rubbish name for a website! But the bed is really good. Very similar to our Warren Evans beds.
We got the frames from Warren Evans / getlaidbeds but the mattresses from elsewhere
