Good morning mumsnetters.
Recently reconfigured some rooms in our house. We now have a fairly large 'spare bedroom' but this will for the majority of the time be in use as a sensory room / playroom for our DD who has special needs.
However we do need a double bed so that this room can host guests (not super frequent but on average a weekend every 6 weeks or so). There is room to just have a double bed standing there, but I would prefer something that can be folded away so that DD can use the space.
Options:
- a day bed (like the Ikea Hemnes for example) - this would visually work pretty well I think but I'm a bit unsure how it is as a double bed. In our room, the long side of the day bed would be against the wall but neither of the shorter sides It seems odd that the 'head' of the bed wouldn't be against a wall when open.
- a sofa bed - I'm worried about the comfort here. We both have parents who have some back pain and I really want to prioritise comfort of the bed. Open to recommendations for any very comfy sofa bed options? And I know mattress toppers can make a big difference too.
I am not considering a wall bed / Murphy bed as I'm worried about that from a safety perspective with DD - she's a real climber and I can just see it going very wrong.
Thank you!!
