Rug ideas

Hi all , I’ve got quite a big lounge and want a statement rug . We can’t afford carpets yet as the house is a refurb but the lounge is painted cream and olive green with burnt orange lampshades . The burnt orange is the pop colour but I want the rug to be a statement too as the walls look a bit dull . Any ideas , it’s a 70’s house by the way . Please ad pics

Flokati is my first thought for statement 1970s rugs, but obviously they tend to be cream.

This place can turn remnants into rugs. Maybe you’ll hate this but I think it’s amazing (and practical if anyone’s prone to spills).

We have the 'rough sea' (blue with a small amount of white) version of this one, found in Homesense for the bargain price of £135. I remember when we were looking they had a green one too, but not the one I've linked below.

It's 90% wool, 10% cotton and has a very 1970s/mid century vibe. I've not found any for sale in the UK though...
