Smallest bed frame style for a tiny room

We have the smallest box room and currently have a wooden bed frame which fills the whole room more or less end to end
I’m redecorating. Should I get a divan ? Maybe headboard on the wall? Or do I just keep it and accept it’s small as a room and focus on it being cosy ?

Is the room actually being used as a bedroom, or a spare?

We've got a "shorty" bed and mattress in one of our bedrooms as it meant we could fit storage down one end as well as the bed. You don't notice it's smaller than a regular bed to be honest, but frees up a little more space in the room. We also have a tiny box room, which has a day bed and doubles up as dh office, but we are removing the day bed soon, and are going to have it as an office/dressing room, and get fitted wardrobes, as the storage in our bedroom is dire, and we're constantly having to vacuum pack clothes under the bed as the wardrobe is tiny and there's not enough room for much else. Stupid new builds!

a handyman or carpenter can build something to fit an akward space.

We had a similar problem and went with an ottoman divan (for extra storage as well) with a painted on "headboard" so we could still squeeze past the end of the bed to get to the other side rather than climbing over the bed.

What is the room used for?
Occasional spare- keep the bed as is, focus on making it cosy
Kids room- get a high sleep to regain the floor space

Could you get a bed like this ?

So it was my youngest son’s room. Older brother gone to uni so like lightning , DS2 has pinched the other room 😝. The box will need to function as a bedroom but not a permanent one. Just when he comes back from uni (which I’m hoping he does to visit 😭) or for when I escape the snoring warthog I’m married to. The bed frame is rickety and could stand to be painted but isn’t giving cosy.

I have a divan with drawers in my tiny 1.7x1.9m room, it's brilliant. No headboard but it doesn't really matter for adults, I'll get one (and a star panel) when DS moves up to a big boy bed.
