Painted kitchen revamp with black granite

I have a painted shaker kitchen, currently painted grey with honed black granite work top, it needs painting but I'm not sure what colour to go for. It is partially open plan to the dining room, so will also need to redecorate this.

Current scheme is dining room F&B Dimpse, Kitchen walls blackened, units pavilion grey.

The kitchen is down 5 steps from dining room and has a lower ceiling so appears darker, dining room is a large square room about 15' square with 10' ceilings and fancy victorian coving (house is victorian) and nice big sash windows.

I've toyed with changing the black granite as think it's a bit dated, but am thinking it will come back into fashion as soon as I remove, so would like to work with it - or should I replace?

I was wondering about olive green on base units, cream walls and wall units, but this is quite out of my comfort zone! Also like F&B Peignoir, but want warm colours and not grey so not sure what to put with it. Also thought about French grey with off white and maybe F&B old white in dining room.

I was also going to change handles.

Would love some help with a colour scheme!

I would say keep the granite and try a warm creamy colour on the units. How about black handles to tie in?

I quite like the off-white and black combo, very elegant and timeless. But if you prefer more colour then the green and black combo is also gorgeous and very on trend.

I like the idea of olive base cabinets with cream walls and wall cupboards @anatara.

Although our old kitchen had a completely different vibe (we had iroko worktops for a start), we painted our wall cupboards the same cream as the walls - with the base cabinets a completely different colour. Imo it looked great, not least because the wall cupboards appeared to recede which made the space look wider.

Definitely keep the granite. Purely from an environmental perspective.

Thanks for your help, the link is so useful @Serendipity24 I had been trying to find something that, I am keen to keep the black as it just feels wrong to replace you're right @Gardenroomdoom if only from an environmental point of view.

Good to know your wall units looked great @LibertyLily as I think a darkish colour on them too might be too much.

I thought Little Greene Citrine & Portland stone looked nice, they have a picture of a kitchen with it on their website with black granite which looks lovely
