Mattress Protectors, what's the best one?

I've just bought a brand new very expensive mattress and want to protect it so it lasts. Pls recommend a fantastic mattress protector. I've been through the silent night, fogarty etc and they all seem a bit of a muchness. I've tried waterproof one because i sweat a lot, it rustles about noisily when you move and shifts. The other one doesnt fit well and also moves about underneath the sheet. The reviews for some of the big names are really awful (thats when you look beyond the 'its AMAZING! ones on top and drill down to the negative ones) I just want a nice mattress protector that does what it says on the tin and lasts. It doesn't have to be waterproof.

we have these on all our beds. Waterproof but not like the cheap plastic ones. No rustling or shifting around.

Double layer mattress topper I have this one from John Lewis. I love it because I can zip of the top layer and wash it. It isn't waterproof is so thick and so easily washable.

Unfortunately, im only getting a mattress protector not topper but thanks @OttersAreMySpiritAnimal

I had that for 5 years. I love it. The only reason I don’t still have it is that I changed size of bed and my new mattress is too tall for it. I wouldn’t be able to get in to bed. Great topper though.

The White Company do great mattress protectors - also ones for pillows. I bought the luxury quilted waterproof protector for several beds, simply because it was in a ‘best buy’ review - they do have a non-waterproof version. They tend to go out of stock every now and then, irritatingly, but it’s worth waiting for them. Not the cheapest, but very good quality.

One thing - the White Company protectors are 34 cm deep - so fit properly over a deeper mattress, and stay in place. It’s worth double checking the dimensions of your mattress before you buy anything.

I buy the soft microfiber ones from Incontinence Choice

We have the non-waterproof JL ones and they are great. Thick enough to block any stains (including period blood etc). They have shrunk a it over the years though, I’d size up if I was buying another one.

DS has this one on his single bed, and if they made a double version I’d buy it for us - basically thick but very soft felt. Feels lovely and is apparently waterproof (I haven’t tested it).
