Hello,

I’m looking for some help please. I’m in the process of finalising my kitchen design and have gone for a lot of symmetry, as order and pattern is what I prefer. I am struggling to work out how to balance my units around my window which is asymmetrical. The designer has suggested shelving on the end with a cupboard underneath, but I can’t help but find it jarring. I’m not mad on a random chunky shelf which I don’t have anywhere else in the kitchen. I think the cupboard next to the window would work better as more light would flood the room, and I’d have the two taller units on the ends which is the same on the opposite side of the room.

Could anyone with an eye for these things tell me what looks best, and how to balance the halves of the room? I’ve tried having the design without the cupboard but there’s then a gap to the side between the kitchen unit and wall that doesn’t look right either.

Thanks in advance!

I think if you want to keep the symmetry you could possibly look to extend the bench seat and then have the tall cupboard at the end. How desperately do you need the extra storage and would extending the bench look ridiculous? I guessing these are 1200mm cupboards.

I hadnt thought about this so thanks for the suggestion. I’m not desperate for the storage but it’d mean I could space out items rather than stack them. I’m most bothered about how it looks as that’s what I’ll feel more every day. Without a CGI render I can’t picture it
